Padel Court Dimensions

The court itself, before you account for anything around it:

The net runs the full 10 m width. It measures 88 cm high at the centre and up to 92 cm at the posts, so it dips slightly in the middle — noticeably lower than a tennis net.

The service lines sit 6.95 m back from the net on each side, running parallel to it. A centre service line divides that area into two boxes, each 5 m wide and 6.95 m deep.

The area between the service line and the back glass — just over 3 m — is where most defensive play happens.

The enclosure is what makes the court. Back walls are typically 3 m of glass with 1 m of metal mesh above, giving 4 m in total. The side walls step down from the back corners, combining glass and mesh, and both sides have an opening so players can enter — and, in some formats, exit to play a ball from outside.

Glass is normally 10 or 12 mm tempered safety glass. Exact wall stepping varies slightly between approved designs, so check current FIP specifications before building.

Almost all courts use artificial turf dressed with silica sand, in blue, green or terracotta. The sand controls pace and grip — too little and the surface is slick, too much and the ball dies. It needs regular brushing and topping up.

The 20 by 10 m figure is the playing area only. A real installation needs clearance around the structure for access and maintenance, and adequate height above it — 6 m is the minimum and indoor builds generally want more.

A singles padel court is narrower, at 20 by 6 m, but is uncommon.
